Anna's Wedding Day

A few months ago, my daughter Kimberly asked me to do wedding makeup for Anna. Anna is a friend from Towson University and Horizon Church.

After several attempts at finding a date for a trial run, we finally got together at the groom, Aaron's house after church one Sunday. Anna told me that she rarely wears make up and wanted a natural look. She was pleased with the look that I created for her so now we were ready for the big day.

As many times as I have driven to Towson, I missed the exit and got there a little late, but since Kim, my event planning daughter, had suggested the make up time line we were still on schedule. After “Happy Wedding Day” wishes and a prayer for peace we got started. Some brides have continual interupptions while I am doing their make up,. That is to be expected, since they are the bride, the one with all the answers! But thankfully our prayer was answered.

We listened to John Mayer while I helped Anna to get her “glam on”. We also shared a God-incidental moment. As we talked about the flower that she would be wearing in her hair and “their song” for the first dance, we heard the lyrics of that song playing! After we finished, I still had time left, so I also did the MOG, Nicole's make up. By then the MOG, MOB and bridesmaids back from their hair appointments were arriving.

The wedding day is always such an intimate time to share. It is the day that my grandaughters call “her princess day”. After Anna was helped into her beautiful wedding gown, custom made by the MOG, carrying beautiful flowers arranged by the MOB, I left knowing that Anna and Aaron are beginning the great adventure of their new life together, supported by the love of wonderful parents, friends and family.
