Jenn's Trial Run Wedding Makeup

Jodie Hawk's picture

I had a trial run with Jenn, a soon to be June bride from Horizon Church. Jenn is another young, attractive makeup minimalist.

So many of my brides tell me horror stories of encounters with makeup artists who don't listen to what they want and when they are finished, it isn't an “I Feel Pretty” moment. Instead it is an, “I don't know who I am” moment.

Anna's Wedding Day

A few months ago, my daughter Kimberly asked me to do wedding makeup for Anna. Anna is a friend from Towson University and Horizon Church.

After several attempts at finding a date for a trial run, we finally got together at the groom, Aaron's house after church one Sunday. Anna told me that she rarely wears make up and wanted a natural look. She was pleased with the look that I created for her so now we were ready for the big day.

A Winning Combination: Mimosas, Cookies and Makeup!

On Thursday, November 12th we hosted a Master Class day.  The classes were conducted over mimosas and cookies upstairs in a private room.  We discussed skincare and makeup application in a workshop setting. We offered three classes: 11:00, 2:00 and 5:00, with each class able to accommodate 6 women and lasting two hours. By the end of the class, with the help of Lynn and Mavis, my wonderful freelance makeup artists, everyone had applied their own skincare and makeup and left looking beautiful, having learned new techniques and owning new products.
